Following a personal experience of recovery from post traumatic stress and mental illness, this series of abstract paintings formed an exploration of mental healing through the discovery of the repressed, the analogue, the organic, the mortal, the sensitvie; the latent feminine generative force.
‘These paintings were parts of myself that I had alienated and they seemed to seep upwards through the depths of my mind, archetypal, expanding like stars, universes or rapidly dividing embryos - each liquid composition had a movement, a will, a life force of it’s own’
The fluid treatment of the paint evokes the organic and the bodily whilst the liquid gradients and transitions between matte, irridescent and neon are handled with a delicate imperceptibility, creating subtle illusions of three dimensions. Implied shadowy crevices reveal minute elaborate and lavish marbling and there is a sense of reverence and delight in the unpredictability of the forms as if they are still moving and emerging even when dry.
